The view worth waking up for
Collaroy is a suburb in Northern Sydney, in New South Wales. It is a coastal area which is popular for many beach lovers who want to get out and enjoy a perfect day in the sun, sand and water with beautiful ocean views. Collaroy belongs to the Northern Beaches region.
One of the most popular destinations in Collaroy is of course Collaroy Beach. This beach is partly protected from wind and swell from the south and it's because of this that many beginning surfers use this beach, especially when there is a southerly wind. At this beach you can also find a gentle point-break that wraps round the south headland, appropriately known as Powder Puff Point.
Collaroy beach is a great place to go on a summer's day if you are looking for a relaxing day at the beach. It's a good place for families, couples, groups of friends or surfers. It provides good swimming conditions and is an excellent beach for beginning surfers. You won't find many very accomplished surfers on this beach however because there aren't too many big swells along this beach. Nearby beaches such as Narrabeen and Long Reef are the places that accomplished surfers will most likely go.
One of the best things about this beach is that it offers perfect sunrise views in the morning. Although it might be cold, it's definitely worth the early start to capture some amazing photographs of a gorgeous sunrise.
The beach is also surrounded with surf shops, cafes, a restaurant strip and also a cafe, so it is a great place for many visitors.
Collaroy Beach offers many facilities to its guests:
Toilet and shower facilities Disabled toilets are accessible - key is available from lifeguards
Freewheeler disabled beach access wheel chair Liberty Swing
Shade structure forms part of the playground
Water resistant wheelchair available from lifeguards
In terms of parking, Collaroy Beach has parking available that is free for vehicles displaying Warringah Council parking stickers. The cost for those without a sticker pay:
Monday to Friday - $5 an hour or $8 all day
Weekends - $25 all day
There are designated disabled car spaces available
It's a great beach, located on the Northern Beaches of NSW so check it out.
