Nine kilometres from Dee Why to Manly is the distance of the Cole Classic. To brave the waters and swim next Saturday, you can make an effort but you do not have to swim the whole nine kilometres; there are one and two kilometre distances between Shelley Beach and Manly.

It is the 29th Annual Cole Classic . An event that will give any ocean swimmer a challenge and with proceeds going to charity, it is a fun and healthy. It is enough of a distance to calm the overactive swimmers mind, to challenge the super fit and to make sure that at least one or two competitors spend the rest of the weekend gently snoring off the exertion of having made the distance.

It provides stories of bravery for work colleagues for the next few weeks and for those who like to swim but not talk, it is something that will more than fill a boring Sunday morning.

The Cole Classic competition website explains the starting times, entry requirements age groups and wave starts as well as where to pay your entry fees ( as these importantly go to assist charities). There are prizes too.

The amount raised last year was over 391,000 and went to over 600 local charities. Make a day of it and stick around Manly for a bite to eat at one of the divine cafes or restaurants or if the weather is good, relax on the beach.
