The Yarra Valley is virtually bursting with choices of places to get a good feed. Perhaps Coldstream doesn't spring to mind when you consider your next trip to the Yarra Valley, but the Coldstream Brewery is worth a look.

The Coldstream Brewery restaurant and bar opened in 2007 and added brewing to the mix in 2008. Offering delicious food and boutique beer, pop in for lunch or dinner Wednesday through to Sunday. You can also take a brewery tour and indulge in a tasting of the current selection of brews on tap.

The menu is seasonal and features a range of entrées and mains, as well as pizza, side dishes and dessert. You're spoilt for choice with a range of specials also available. Gluten free and vegetarian options are clearly displayed on the menu, and the friendly staff can help with any other dietary requirements.

You'd be remiss to only sample the food at Coldstream Brewery. There are about eight beer and cider options, all brewed on site. Try the European-style Pilsner, the dark Autumn Porter or the Chocolate Winter Ale (yes – chocolate). If beer's not really your thing, there are two ciders available – original and crushed apple, both made with local Yarra Valley produce. Like the menu, the beer and cider is seasonal, so you'll be offered different pickings as the seasons change.

The restaurant has a warm, cosy, and slightly rustic feel, with earthy wood and stone setting the mood. In the cooler months, see if you can secure a table by the open fireplace – it adds that little something special.

Coldstream Brewery is a busy place, so book a table to avoid disappointment.

Entrees range from about $12 - $18, while pizza and mains range from $12 - $36. Dinner isn't complete without dessert, with prices ranging from $10 - $22. You can find the full menu here.

Brewery tours are available for $15 per person, and you can taste five Coldstream products for $10. Minimum group numbers apply – find more details here.

I hadn't realised there was a brewery in Coldstream - thanks for this, it's good to know. I often go out that way walking. The menu sounds delicious! And I do like the idea of Chocolate Winter Ale...perhaps with pizza...
