Free family fun day in the valley
Just under an hours drive from the Melbourne CBD, outside of peak hour traffic of course, at the foothills of the Yarra Valley is a beautiful country town called Coldstream. Coldstream, probably named because it seems to collect cool air in the valley, is known by the local surrounding towns for its hot air ballooning, animal rescue shelter, wineries and the local brewery.
Saturday 7th April sees the brewery play host to the local Cider Harvest. If you haven't visited the brewery before, this would be the perfect time to stop in as it is the perfect opportunity to try an array of different, ciders. The Brewery will be offering free tastings throughout the day but will have their famous tasting paddle for sale, which offers your choice of different beers or ciders so you can try a few different flavours.
Saturday will also see exciting new one off cider flavours available for one day only which is another great reason to attend the Cider Harvest. Of course, there will be other drinks, such as beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks available on the day, but the showcase of the whole festival will be the cider.
And what is a great Cider without some fresh homemade food to accompany it. The brewery's restaurant will be open all day and they will have an array of finger foods and BBQ style snacks available in the courtyard created by a pop-up restaurant - Food_by_andy.
You will also be able to purchase fresh local produce from local growers. The event is free and targeted to all age groups with activities for the children from 10am - 2pm, including a colouring competition. The Harvest wouldn't be complete without some live music from Zac Saber.
A great way to spend a lazy afternoon away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
