The last time Cold Chisel played in Newcastle was in 2011 for their Light The Nitro tour. Light The Nitro was the biggest grossing tour ever by an Australian band! Cold Chisel wasn't able to make it to Newcastle for their 2015 One Night Stand tour so this is a special payback treat for Novocastrians.
Cold Chisel will perform some of their greatest hits including 'Khe Sanh', 'Cheap Wine', and 'Bow River'. They will also treat the crowd to some songs from their most recent albums No Plans and The Perfect Crime.
Cold Chisel have a career spanning 40 years and a playlist which has become an integral part of the Australian psyche. After moving from Adelaide in the late 1970s Newcastle became a second home for the band. Their classic song 'Star Hotel' was a homage to the venue of that name which was the cause of riots in Newcastle when it was closed down.
Also appearing on stage at this inaugural event will be Spiderbait who have just celebrated their 25th anniversary. Spiderbait have a unique musical alchemy which has seen them sell more than half a million records and win multiple ARIA awards.
