Embarking on the
Oyster Walk is one way to enjoy Coffin Bay. This 15-kilometre trail can be completed in sections or conquered as a whole.
The section that meanders along the town's foreshore is relatively easy with well-defined tracks and just an occasional step or two. Its gentle gradient makes for a nice evening stroll with the kids. The water views are rather magnificent too, especially when passing the oyster farm.
From Oyster HQ, the trail loops up to a lookout and, as expected, does have short steep hill sections. Its surface is also a little rougher. Unfortunately, the view at the top did not excite me as much as that by the foreshore.
If you're feeling energetic, do continue on the walk-through to the site of the original settlement. Not a lot of Old Oystertown had survived though, so just be mindful of that when you're visiting.
Coffin Bay is situated on the Eyre Peninsula approximately eight hour's drive from Adelaide. I would definitely recommend the foreshore section of Oyster Walk to those who are short on time.
