Okay, so there's heaps of articles on the best place to whet your coffee loving palate in Melbourne - because there's so flipping many ! But how about matching up the right coffee shop to suit your current state of mind, company and life attitude.

I've had a good bash at the coffee hangouts - initially I came to Melbourne with a hit list which keeps getting bigger. I get seriously upset when someone discovers a place I haven't been to yet - I drop everything and go at the next given opportunity. So these are my favourite spots for a proper caffeine fix, a sort of caffeine pick 'n' mix.

Occasion:
Catching up with the girls / After a good shopping session / Bumped into your arty pals.

If you find yourself in the Fitzroy area, keen for the bean. Pop into ' Grace ' on Rose Street. A very cutesy place, offering delicate bites. A welcoming and comfortable place to lounge with cleverly recycled interior.

Occasion:
People watching / Like coffee that seriously tingles your throat / This is what a barista should look like.

I'm always in the mood for this joint. ' Manchester Press ', Rankins Lane. The coffee is consistently tasty and with well presented latte art creations with every cup. Friendly, laid back vibe, where all the cool kids go.

Occasion:
A chilled place to study, write your memoirs & procrastinate / Yummy mummies/daddies (crèche facilities and lots of kids activities) / Library indulger

' Kere Kere ' is part of the Boyd Library on City Road. Providing you with excellent service with heart. Each customer votes for a monthly cause that the company will donate to; be it cultural, environmental, health or social. A decent cuppa, if you're looking for some quiet time.

Occasion:
I'm a freaking hipster and proud / Is this a concept or a joke? / Onto a stronger beverage when the sun goes down

' 1000 £ Bend ', Little Lonsdale Street is a nice hideaway in the middle of the CBD. Its cosy grandma style furnishings, quirky knickknacks and well thought out menu makes it a winning choice every time. There's a gallery attached which always has something being exhibited, regular cheap nights and events.
