I found that Coffee Essence was somewhat overpriced, especially compared with other cafes in the area. It is still competitively priced with the same sized cup of coffee in the CBD but that is not really saying much.

The location is quite convenient and is perfect if you happen to be doing your grocery shopping at Woolworths next door. There is ample parking available for Coffee Essence as the café is located at the Chermside Markets shopping centre.


The atmosphere was relaxed and warm, with an appealing selection of cakes and sweets on display. There is seating both inside and out and while small, it does not feel overcrowded at all.

The staff at Coffee Essence is fantastic. In my experience I found that they provide fast, friendly and efficient service to their customers and strive to keep the café clean and tidy throughout.

Coffee Sampled: Elixir 'Velluto'

The most disappointing part of my experience today was the poorly prepared and bitter flat white I suffered through. I have personally bought and used Elixir 'Velluto' at home and I can vouch for the fact that it was not the grind or the beans that made this cup of coffee sub-par and while friendly and efficient, the barista could perhaps use some more training in the art of making espresso.
