The next time you're driving up the coast and need to stop for a coffee, bypass the well known green service station and take the Johnston Rd/Wild Horse Mountain Scenic Lookout exit a further 10 minutes down the highway. Here, on the southbound side (easily accessible by an overpass) next to the service station you will find Coffee en Route, a deceptively average looking diner with above average coffee. This organic coffee is grown locally in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland and is well worth the extra 10 minute drive.
I bought a caramel slice and two coffees at Coffee en Route. As the caramel slice was an inedible piece of pure condensed milk I enquired whether a refund of my $6 would be possible and was told "what you see is what you get" very rudely by the owner. We waited for another 15 minutes for our equally unpalatable and overpriced coffees before leaving never to return. $18 for appalling service and none from 3 ite
ms edible. Avoid.
