If you are looking for a "no fuss" cafe with a good menu which changes regularly, look no further than the Coffee Code Espresso & Kitchen, which is well priced with fast, friendly service.

We visited here while attending a doctor's appointment at the Lions Eye Clinic, and although we allowed 1 ½ hours for the meal, it only took about 30 minutes - admittedly we did not have any cooked foods even though the choice was quite large.

We were very early for lunch and shared a delicious egg and avocado roll. I have never seen so much scrambled eggs in a roll before, and it must have had at least 4 eggs in it. These were done to perfection and were creamy and light. The roll itself was delicious being a wholemeal roll with seeds on top.

The presentation was also great and particularly the coffee and tea, which were presented on a wooden board with the milk being served in a tiny milk bottle.

The cafe has a lot of workers as it is right next door to the new Children's Hospital being built in Nedlands, and there is plenty of paid parking close by.

Other examples on the menu were
  • Sumac Roasted Salmon Salad blackboard special
  • Spicy Prawn Risotto
  • Vegetable Korma

  • Paleo Breakfast at $15.50
  • Slider sampler with chips (enough for two people) at $18.50
  • Pork belly at $18.50
  • Chicken souvlaki at $18.50
  • or if you want a smaller meal for lunch there is a choice of:
  • Classic Caesar salad at $14.50
  • and much more!

  • Also on offer by way of drinks was a Beetroot and chocolate drink, a Beetroot drink or Turmeric and chocolate.

Being a lover of GOOD coffee, I love the "funky" signs they had around the walls and this one was my favourite:

They have a range of well-priced hot meals on display, plus ones that are not on display, and prices were written on the glass as well as a printed menu.

Also on display were their rolls, wraps and cold lunches, including the egg one which we picked.

They also had an interesting breakfast menu, as well as various cakes of different sizes and prices.

You can eat either inside or outside and there are plenty of tables in both positions.

This is a great little "find" when visiting SCG hospital for whatever reason, and it is situated just across the road from the main entrance of the hospital at 12 Hospital Avenue, Nedlands, and is right next to the new Children's Hospital.
