A well-deserved lunch break after a difficult morning of shopping awaits at the Coffee Club in Chadstone.
Located in the Loop Mall, the Coffee Club is not far from the main food court, but has an altogether different atmosphere. While it is not exactly a quiet location, the constant chatter of the food court cannot be heard. With a small barrier enclosing the counter and tables, the Coffee Club feels like a semi-private space within the shopping centre.
As the Coffee Club is a franchise, I didn't expect top-notch food. You order at the counter, rather than getting full table service. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the food itself.
I ordered the chicken schnitzel, which came served with a salad and chips. Owing to it being such a small plate, the chips are hiding underneath the schnitzel in the photo below.
I was impressed with the schnitzel; a sizeable portion of chicken coated with delightfully crunchy breadcrumbs. It was served with small slices of avocado, which perfectly complemented the chicken. The salad was a nice touch, making the meal a little more nutritionally balanced than a plain schnitzel and chips combo.I'm not totally sure of the purpose of the tomato relish it came with. It didn't seem to go with the schnitzel or the chips, and I wasn't game enough to try to combine it with the salad...
My friend ordered the eggs benedict, served with mushroom and baby spinach and smothered in hollandaise sauce.
My only complaint is that they brought out my order long before bringing out my friend's. While we each placed our orders individually, we did so consecutively and it was on the same table number, so you would think they would figure out that we were eating together. Nevertheless, it was much better than usual food court fare and with none of the hassle of trying to find a clean table.
