There are many Coffee Club cafes around Australia and now indeed, around the world.

I was surprised to see a small one open at the Mirrabooka Shopping Centre, however, I was delighted as I have always liked the variety and food that they serve in their other franchise stores.

My first experience with The Coffee Club was in Darwin where we went for one of my "big" zero birthdays, and I have also eaten at the Coffee Club in Sydney, and mostly in Perth. As I do voluntary work at the Mirrabooka Shopping Centre, I decided to try this "new kid on the block" to see if it met the standards of other Coffee Clubs.

On the wall in large letters were the words EST 89 #356 which means that The Coffee Club was established in 1989, and this store was the 356th franchise store in the world.

There is currently a fairly new menu and the first thing that caught my eye was the range of different croissants, fillings and toppings. There was a separate menu for these delicious looking lunches or snacks.

There was even a sweet croissant with salted caramel and this one is a 'super' salted caramel which is cinnamon ricotta, vanilla ice cream, crushed Maltesers and macadamia nuts in a flaky toasted croissant, which is finished off with salted caramel sauce and a mint leaf!

I have a problem choosing what I want as I love food, and therefore take ages to decide what to order! This was again the case, much to my companion's dismay as she picked her meal in just a few minutes. I went on to take more than 10 minutes to decide!

I decided on the halloumi bruschetta minus the onions and was pleased that they could do it without the onion as many cafes are unable to deviate from their menu. Our waitress, Nelly was pleasant, smiling and the meal took about five minutes to get to us.

My bruschetta was a delicious crusty bread, with basil pesto, heaps of tomato, four slices of grilled halloumi, and sitting on top of this was a perfectly cooked poached egg.

I like that they show you the amount of kj on each meal, as those who are watching their weight would greatly benefit from this, and my meal had 2233 and was priced at $14.95.

My companion had the chicken, pumpkin and pesto flat grill and this was about 2430 kj. It consisted of pesto marinated chicken, roast pumpkin, feta, cherry tomatoes and cheese, toasted in a soft tortilla and served with a fresh garden salad.

In 1989, in Brisbane, the founders, Emmanuel Kokoris and Emmanuel Drivas were driving around Brisbane late one night looking for a decent cup of coffee, and couldn't find one. This disappointing experience inspired them to make a plan to "take the world by storm – a coffee storm" and this became what we now know as The Coffee Club.

They wanted to create more than just somewhere for people to meet for coffee – they wanted it to be casual, yet comfortable, sophisticated, stylish and still be affordable to many people.
The brand caught on quickly giving many people jobs and providing a place where you can get good coffee as well as consistently good food.

Their first coffee shop naturally opened in Brisbane and this chain has become the largest Australian owned café group with about 389 stores in nine countries!

Anyone who comes into the Coffee Club Cafe is a customer, whether you're a guest, one of their excellent kitchen hands, waiters or waitresses. They focus on making sure that everyone enjoys a positive and pleasant experience whilst eating and/or drinking in one of their cafes.

[b]Mirrabooka Store**
At the Mirrabooka store, they also have a menu in neon behind the counter, and they sell their own mugs with lids and with each one you buy, you get your next coffee refill for free. There is also a neat display of the sizes of cups in both takeaway and ceramic, which I find helpful as different cafes seem to have different sizes and I vary between small and medium.

They do their own labelled water bottles, and these, unlike the other franchises I have been to (though not in the last few months), are brought to the table by the waitress.

Last week we had a function at work and had it catered by The Coffee Club, Mirrabooka, and their cakes are delicious. Although it was an early morning meeting, they provided sandwiches, both vegetarian and meat, as well as a few plates of cakes. I can highly recommend their caramel cheesecake which was absolutely delicious. They have a really nice selection of cakes, several of which I tried at our function, and all of which were very good and moist.

Another nice feature of this Coffee Club was that you can look into the kitchen and see the staff preparing the meals - I always feel somehow comfortable when a cafe has this as I believe it shows they have nothing to hide!
