Enjoy great coffee on a great beach
Good coffee by a good beach is a match made in heaven on the Sunshine Coast. But it can be difficult sometimes to find that perfect pair truly worth of your time and money. Coffee Cat on Kings Beach brings together possibly the beach beach and the best coffee that the Caloundra area has to offer together.
The name doesn't lie - Coffee Cat is so close to Kings Beach you can hear the waves break and the sun sizzling off the sunbakers. It's an absolutely beautiful setting, they've got about a dozen tables situated under the shade of some tall Pandanus trees. It was some much needed solace from the sun after a day out and about.
Relax with a drink or a meal under the shade of a pandanus tree
I first stopped by after a few hours in the sun to help me cool down. Everything on the menu looked delicious, but in the end I went with their 'Narnie' smoothie - banana, yoghurt, honey, cinnamon ans skim milk ($7). I was impressed, so I was sure to stop by later on before heading home for the day to try a coffee.
I was pleased to see Coffee Cat take their coffee very serious here. They only ever use premium Italian coffee beans from Lavazza Top Class. All coffee is served at 58 to 60 degrees. Anyone who wants it hotter only has to asks, they say. I could tell a lot of love went into the cappuccino.
Coffee Cat fits in so well with the beach culture - they had free sunblock on offer as well as surf gear hire. Boogie boards are $15/hour or $60/day, while surf boards are $20/hour or $80/day. They also had a relaxing lounge indoors with a TV set up on some sports channel, and a couple of books and magazines to read.
