Coffee in the library is no longer a forbidden pleasure in fact it is an indulgence to be encouraged.

Between May the 5th and the 29th various Melbourne Libraries are encouraging Melburnians love of great coffee and its obvious partner in pleasure reading.
Coffee fuelled walk



There is a free walk on called Melbourne, Coffee Books and History around North Melbourne where you can hear stories about the history of coffee and North Melbourne. It is not a long walk just a few blocks down to Queen Victoria Market but it takes in a lot of historic sites relating to the early coffee palaces and 1930s Italian cafes. At the conclusion of the walk, there will be free refreshments at Common Ground Coffee , West Melbourne. Book your place on 9658 9700

Speed date a book

Who cares about a date when the perfect marriage is really coffee and the best bed partner of all--a good book. Get along to the Coffee Gauge café where the Library Dock team will be giving you heaps of book recommendation while you enjoy a great coffee.

Caffeine-fuelled book clubs

Or how about a lively book chat over a free coffee? Just turn up at one of the Saturday book clubs at East Melbourne Library and get a free coffee and muffin from George Street Café .

Coffee cupping in the library

Boyd Community Hub, in partnership with KereKere Café, will host a cupping night inside Southbank Library. You love coffee so why not come and find out what makes a great brew. If you are not sure what cupping is then click here.

Takeaway coffee reviews

A whole lot of great coffee shops have got on board with this one.

The following coffee shops will be giving out Takeaway Reviews when you purchase coffee there. These are handy card sized reviews written by the cafe staff or various librarians.
These will be available on May 5 to 11 at Coffee Gauge, 825 Bourke Street, Docklands. On May 12 -18th at Common Ground, 225 to 229 Victoria Street, West Melbourne.On May 19 to 25 at George Street Café, 65 George Street, East Melbourne. Then finally between May 26 to 31 at Journal Café, 253 Flinders Lane, Melbourne.
