Studying media/law at UNSW. Can't decide between being a journalist like Clark Kent, a lawyer like Elle Woods or running an inn like Lorelai Gilmore. Until then...I write.

Filtering true coffee connoisseurs from the imposters
If you've been wondering whether you are a true coffee connoisseur or not, Coffee Alchemy will decide it for you. It's a place only for passionate coffee appreciators (dare I say, snobs?).

Coffee Alchemy takes pride in the quality coffee that they roast and blend themselves. Their mission is essentially summed up on their website:

"Coffee alchemists believe that coffee is the elixir of life and producing the many permutations of this liquid gold is their lifelong obsession. First they gather the world's most precious Specialty beans to roast using secret profiles, and then the art of blending takes place through the process of cupping."

The Coffee Alchemists' Manifesto p.7

It's a popular place, customers always coming and going. But if you're looking for a place to relax and catch up with friends, this isn't really the place for you. It's a small shop with limited seating, and there's not really much else on offer besides the coffee.

You can buy coffee to drink there (or take away), and you can also buy your favourite beans. The coffee is roasted on demand, and there are a few varieties of bean to choose from, as well as caffeinated and decaf options.

It is quite an experience to visit, however. They have on display their different beans and blends and the shop almost looks like a science lab, keeping in theme with their alchemy.

The coffee is well made and well presented, but it is quite strong so it is really for the coffee lovers. I used to think I knew coffee, but coffee alchemy pushed me to a whole new level!

Don't go to Coffee Alchemy for the atmosphere or a large menu, go for the coffee. Coffee Alchemy is a must-visit for coffee connoisseurs, and for wannabe connoisseurs (like myself).
