Event: -

During the Sping school holidays, CoderKidz, a not for profit organisation, is presenting a series of interactive workshops at Brisbane Square Library and Chermside Library fro children aged 8 to 17.

This unique series of workshops for boys and girls are centred on interesting and engaging topics, such as software and web development, electronics, robotics and 3D design.

Each workshop is held in a fun and encouraging atmosphere and children will be given the opportunity to engage with a variety of programming concepts and languages; from developing skills to create a website, to programming a robot invention and gaining a better understanding of 3D Design and Printing.

The workshops are hosted by friendly CoderKidz mentors, who all have significant experience in fields relevant to the courses being delivered, as well as experience in mentoring children and teenagers in similar environments.

Choose from three different workshops:

  • Intro To Web Development

    Chermside Library

    September 24th 2016, 8:30 - 11:30

Students will be introduced to HTML and styling with CSS, the backbone of the internet. The HTML language forms the structure of all webpages, and is the natural starting point for anyone who wants to learn how to build websites or web based applications.

More advanced sessions will move onto and interactive webpages using Javascript, and eventually move onto more advanced frameworks such as Aurelia or Asp.net.

  • Arduino Robotic

    Brisbane Square Library

    October 1st 2016, 10:00 - 12:00

    Chermside Library

    September 17th 2016, 9:30 - 11:30

This program is great for beginners to electronics and robotics aged between 8-17 and no prior experience is required.

Learn skills like wiring, working with motors, LED lights, servos, sensors, touch screens and more while working on a project that you design yourself and get to take home.

  • Introduction to 3D Design and 3D

    Chermside Library

    September 18th 2016, 8:30 - 10:30

Have your ever wondered how machine components are designed and created?
Ever wanted to make your own 3D sprites for a game?

In the #d design workshop, we will cover some of the fundamental principles of #d design, which will allow participants to turn their ideas into reality using 3D printers or create amazing objects for games or other digital media.

Bookings are now open for each workshop: all required materials are provided and the participation fee $50pp.
