Authentic Filipino flavour? What's that? Well, that's exactly the point. Chances are you have tried either the Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, and Indian dishes but never the Filipino cuisine. That's understandable since Filipino restaurants are quite rare in Perth. As a matter of fact, it is almost non existent in Perth CBD, except probably during the night markets.
But now, you can expand your cultural food taste.
Cocoa & Rose located at 491 Hay St. (corner Irwin St) has recently added 'adobo' in their menu.
Adobo (from Spanish word 'adobar' which means to marinate) is a popular Filipino dish. Its main ingredient, besides the meat, is vinegar. The adobo dish, although always served with boiled rice, has regional variations in the proportion of ingredients and cooking process. It is the adobo from Batangas region located in the northern part of the archipelago and from where the owner of
Cocoa & Rose came originally from, that the café serves.
"
Chicken adobo with rice is an authentic Filipino dish added to
Cocoa & Rose menu. We are proud about this product. But we are also passionate to move from traditional to more adventurous creation so we created a fusion of Asian and Western cuisine by creating adobo roll and adobo salad. We are very excited about this and can't wait for our customers to try them." says Chef Jen.
Cocoa & Rose opens from 6:00am to 3:00pm Monday - Friday and 7:00am - 12:30pm on Saturday.
