You can have your designer outfit and afford it too
If I asked what was the ultimate in recycling what would you say? Composting? Reusing waste water? Recycling plastics? Buying recycled paper products? While these are all worthy initiatives that help the environment and make us feel virtuous, how would you like your recycling virtue to come with a dose of glamour - 100%, 18 carat designer glamour - along with a dash of bargain hunter satisfaction?
Coco La Belle is the new fashion kid on the block in the very fashionable location of Bulimba's Oxford Street. But this is fashion with a difference; Coco La Belle is the only pre-loved boutique in Bulimba.
Chris, complete with gorgeous midnight blue beaded dress.
Owned and managed by the sunny, knowledgeable and friendly Chris Brindell, who previously owned a West End boutique, Coco La Belle is a delightful find. Named to invoke a sense of French style, sophistication and glamour, it's a small, welcoming space next door to the popular cafe, Making Lemonade. The boutique is so new that Chris' shop signage has yet to be delivered - maybe in time for Christmas with a little luck - but you will find a handy sandwich board out the front proclaiming the shop's wares.
I recently visited Coco La Belle and found a mix of new and pre-loved designer fashion items sourced by Chris, as well as handbags, shoes and jewellery. The focus is clearly on quality natural fibres such as silk, linen and cotton. It's a one-stop shop where you can put together a stunning outfit for your next special occasion or event.
I keenly browsed the racks with my Designing Daughter, and found a huge range of designers represented. Lisa Ho and Wayne Cooper were 'chic by jowl' with Alannah Hill, Dianne von Furstenberg, and Brisbane-based fashion favourite, Sacha Drake, on the hanging racks.
What sets Coco La Belle apart is its really wide cross section of items. Cool, fashion-savvy twenty somethings (Designing Daughter), stylish grandmothers (me!) and everyone in between has been catered for.
From lacy jumpsuits to stylish evening wear.
We found a current season Alannah Hill dress that retails for $389 and a pure silk Dianne von Furstenberg original, both for the bargain basement price of $99. Sweet. Chris also stocks Serenade leather bags, beautiful Australian brand Oran leather goods and some cute trinkets and giftware.
Pure silk Dianne von Furstenberg for only $99 - what a bargain!
So, by now the question on everyone's lips is "Did we find something to satisfy our hearts' desires?' and the answer is an emphatic 'Yes!". Designing Daughter walked away with a lovely draped long black evening dress and I found a teal Grace Hill dress just perfect for Christmas season festivities and a linen embroidered case for my sunglasses.
Chris also offers you the opportunity to hire a one-of-a-kind outfit for your next special occasion. Move over Cinderella. Imagine how great you'll feel when you arrive in a beautiful, high end, designer outfit for your next important event, and only you know that the stunning Wayne Cooper or Alannah Hill number you're wearing was yours for only $50 (and it won't turn into a pumpkin at midnight!)
You could wow them in this designer custom-made original.
You really should get along to Coco La Belle for a dose of designer fashion at a fraction of regular prices. And you can bask in the warm inner glow that comes from doing your bit for the environment. Win / win.
