In an effort to encourage local residents to become more physically active, the City of Cockburn , along with Be Active Cockburn, has put together a series of easy walking trails. These fantastic walks meander through beautiful parkland, native bushland, many places of interest and look-out points with spectacular views.

Walking is a great way for people of all ages and abilities to be active and to get some exercise. It's the most popular type of physical activity amongst Western Australian adults and can be done as a recreational activity, but sometimes it can be hard to know where to start.

The City of Cockburn has put together a series of walks and produced a handy walking booklet containing all of these walks. If you don't want to walk alone but don't have anyone to walk with, there are many Walking Groups in the Cockburn area that you can join.

There are eighteen different to choose from. Each one is unique in its own way, offering different degrees of difficulty and length. You can set off on one of these walking trails at any time, just follow the map and enjoy your walk. There is no time limit, you can take things at your own pace, in your own time.

There are walking trails all over the Cockburn area so there is sure to be one in your suburb. Choose from walking trails in the following areas:

Atwell - 3.2km
Aubin Grove - 2.1km
Beeliar - 4.1km
Beeliar - Meve Estate - 4.4km
Bibra Lake - 6km
Coogee - 3.5km
Coogee/Munster - 2.4km
Coolbellup - 2.4km
Hamilon Hill - 2.5km
Hammond Park - 2km
Henderson - 2.4km
Jandakot - 4.3km
North Lake - 2.4km
South Lake - 2.4km
Spearwood - MacFaull Park - 2km
Spearwood - Market Garden Swamp - 1.5km
Success - 3km
Yangebup - 3km

Helpful walking maps are available from the council offices, the City of Cockburn Library or one can be downloaded here . These maps are full of useful information and show you the walking route, locations of facilities, look-out points, places of interest and parking areas. You can check out the different walking trails and then pick one that suits you. Try them all.

So, head on out and enjoy one of the self-guided walks. It's fun, it's interesting and it's free.
