It was a very wet Sunday when we decided to take the trip to . Rain and cold weather actually add to the vibe, which is both creative and eerie. We disembarked from the ferry and strolled through the camping site. The kids discovered a tunnel, and couldn't wait to run through it. At the other side, there was an art station set up, where they made puppets. The men explored the upper level of the Island, and then we went in search of food. I am a vegetarian, and had the best pie of my entire life, a gado gado with vegetables. The rest of my group sought out the German sausages. Even with the rain teeming down, we were able to keep dry as we ate, serenaded by beautiful music. We went into Building 140, in the Industrial Precinct, and were greeted by an enormous waterfall.
The art was absolutely stunning, and there was ample space to sit and enjoy a meal inside, as well as wine. The Storytime Village was magical, just as you would expect. Smoke came out of the chimneys of the little houses. Each Saturday at 2pm, stories are told in this magical village. The children were also able to see what happens when people provide energy in activities such as rocking on a chair, much to their delight. We were carried away, and continued to explore. The uppermost level had a haunted feel, and my favourite exhibit was in Building 2, Zilla Leutenegger's silhouettes projected onto the walls.

We went to the little shop, where the divine soaps and candles (made at Cockatoo island), enticed us all. There were gnomes and other whimsies for sale too. The children loved going into the old convict quarters. If you want to know Sydney, and take in some incredible art, is your start.
