I love to get involved in most things I do, hence writing reviews on a host of wide range subjects. It's the experience of learning and involvement that brings excitement to your life. Doing something that most people do not consider. Not to mention the experiences create amazing dinner party conversations, which makes you appear more interesting.

There is a great range of roles to apply for and you can choose the times and dates you are available. Even if you don't have any special qualifications, the is something you can probably do. You can gain some great hands on experience, rub shoulders with someone famous or at least get a glimpse of them and you meet energetic like minded people. Who knows what will eventuate for you. Life is a mystery and can be an exciting one if you put yourself out there and grab opportunities like this. There are some pretty cool benefits thrown in too.

View to the northern side of the island. simply stunning!

Before the festival:
Starting from: Friday 19th to Tuesday 23rd October, they need people to assist the set up. See, no special talents required for this. With different time slots.

During the festival:
Starting from: Wednesday 24th to Sunday 28th October, they need people for a range of fun roles. You may have to have a little experience in one of the following. With different time slots.

After the festival:
Starting from: Monday 29th to Friday 2nd October, they need people to assist the pack down. No special talents required here either. With different time slots.

Roles during the festival can include:
Usher - you hold the power of the torch! 'Walk this way please' and you will probably get to see some pretty cool movies.
Venue Assistant - assisting people to get to the right venue so they don't end up at the wrong film.
Ticketing & Box Office Assistant - Handling those valuable little pieces of paper that many a scalper would pay a hefty price for.
Festival Guide - a fun friendly role, a big smile would be required when telling people 'where to go' around the island. Of course, you will need to learn and know where to direct them, that would be fun.
Sustainability - probably making sure everything is spick and span around the island, we don't want the overseas visitors to think we are grubs.
Crowd Assistance - making sure the crowds don't get out of hand. There is a little bit of power in that role.
Runner Now this would be exciting also, as you get to see all the behind the scenes stuff.
VIP Driver - drive VIP's around the island in a buggy - oh it could be some superstar or someone very important.
Merchandise Sales - you will probably get to buy your souvenirs before the favourites sell out, avoiding disappointment.
Food & Beverage Assistant - you will need your RSA to be part of the continual VIP functions and parties that are planned. Who knows who you will serve?
AV Support You would need some serious experience with this, we don't want to have to tell everyone "Ooops my bad"! when the lights go out.

There are 5 different time slots starting from 8am to 2am and 2 shift lengths how you can participate.

Applying: All you need to do is read the CIFF Volunteering Agreement 2012 and then fill out the Volunteer Application Form.

You can fill out the form online and either save it and email it to: volunteer@cockatoofilm.com
Or you can print the Volunteer Application Form and fax it to: 9810 0544 or post it to: Volunteer Coordinator. Level 32, 1 Market Street, Sydney. NSW 2000

It is that easy. I have sent mine off and so looking forward to the experience.

This is history in the making, just like the Sydney Olympics.
Oh and you will get a T-Shirt.

Who know what doors this may lead to or you just may have a whole lot of fun. Either way it will be a fantastic experience.

See you there, somewhere!
