Overflowing with free entertainment for the whole family
Much more than just another food truck festival, the Coburg Velodrome Food Truck Festival will be serving up not only Melbourne's finest food trucks, but also heaps of entertainment, including live music, an outdoor cinema, a circus, roaming performers, Mexican wrestling, eating contests, workshops, visual arts and more. And, it's all free.
Spanning four days over the Australia Day weekend, from Thursday 26 January 2017 until Sunday 29 January 2017, the event will take place at Coburg's open-air velodrome. It is both family and pet friendly and overloaded with exciting events.
Lovers of live music will have two music stages to choose from, which will be showcasing a mixture of sounds ranging from local acoustic, soul and funk to jazz, dance and reggae, with guest DJs also on the bill. All shows are free of charge.
Catch a classic at the outdoor cinema, with screenings including The Castle, Mean Girls, Night at the Roxby and The Lion King. All screenings are free of charge.
Other entertainers that will be displaying their talents in the velodrome include circus performers and roaming performers. Visual art will also be on display and workshops will be held for those looking to learn some new talents of their own.
Then there are the more out of the ordinary events like Mexican wrestling and eating contests. If you wish to prove your eating prowess you can register to take part in the eating contests here. Each night a different cuisine will be featured, with anything and everything from hotdogs to hamburgers and tacos being devoured by masters of munching. The winner will not only win fame and pride, they will also win the privilege of donating all the proceeds gained from the eating contests to a charity of their choice.
The entertainment timetable was still being finalised at the time of writing but will be found here when ready to roll out.
And, of course, there will be food trucks - over 20 of them. The food timetable was also still being finalised at the time of writing, however, a variety of cuisines that cater for different tastes and dietary requirements are assured. The timetable will be here when it's all set for seeing.
