A formal, luxurious dining experience in an old-fashioned building can be quite a treat. And that's where the Cobbs on Rathdowne comes in. Situated in the same street as the Brooze Restaurant Cafe, this exclusive Carlton eatery is renowned for its highly pleasurable and memorable lunches and dinners.

You'll be met by an apparent contradiction as you step into the Cobbs on Rathdowne as you are seated by waitresses clad in skimpy modern attire and soak up the rich Victorian atmosphere. The building itself contains two floors. The bottom floor is the general dining area and the top floor has a bar and boardroom and is usually reserved for special occasions, which must be booked in advance.

Cobbs on Rathdowne tends to specialise in fish, oysters, steaks and gourmet Australian cheeses. Its wines list is thorough and offers a range of Australian and New Zealand white and red wines, along with champagnes.
