The new playground and bike park at Cobbler Creek is now open. and has been an instant hit! We visited on one of the rare sunny days Adelaide has seen this spring.

It's been built as an extension of the old car park off Bridge Road and once you pass through you'll see the brand new driveway that crosses the gully to the new facilities.

There are extensive shaded and grassed areas, and shelters with tables and chairs for picnicking. A good old 'exceloo' toilet block (which for some reason kids also love, I think it's because they talk) and brand new play equipment. The play area is laid with soft rubber paths and the play areas include a sandpit, slide, flying fox, and wicked looking raptor-themed raised decks.

The bike park includes two downhill tracks with some amazing looking jumps and ramps and two tracks for the little ones to toot around on their BMX. Something new to me is the bike repair station, it's got a pump and a selection of tools for quick repairs to save the day.

If the raucousness of the park is too much, wander off uphill on one of the trails so well described on this site. It's great to see families who might not otherwise have set foot in the park wandering around the lower tracks and enjoying the environment Cobbler Creek offers.

This playground is an excellent addition by National Parks SA to the northern suburbs and long may it prosper!
