You can be forgiven for not finding Cobbler. At dusk the thick black curtains are drawn across the windows and you could easily miss the front door. The bar is located across the road from the Melbourne Hotel at 7 Browning St in West End.

Once inside the cocktail and whisky bar you can relax in an old Chesterfield sofa or perch on a bar stool. The place has an intimate feel and the décor is 'rustic den'. There are white candles everywhere and these add to the old-world ambience. The venue holds over one hundred people and features an upstairs area where you'll find a graffiti feature wall mixed with modern art and antiques.

Grab a menu and you'll find an extensive list of drink options. You may feel a little overwhelmed by the pages of liquor including over 400 whiskeys from all the corners of the world. But you can always ask for some advice from one of the cheeky bartenders.

Some of the drinks start from around a tenner, and then soar to the extremes. Each drink has a rating and tasting notes to help you decide where to start. The cocktail menu changes seasonally, and this autumn it features a Die Hard theme. You may need to refresh your memory by watching clips on Youtube. The drinks menu comes with a language warning.
