Beards abound in this semi-secret whisky bar in side streets of West End where hipsters rub shoulders with wealthy business types in a shared love of a great drop of the amber liquid. There are over 300 whiskies to sample from all over the world and you will be sure to find a knowledgeable barman to guide your selection according to your personal taste.

Walking in off the street, you would think by the unassuming facade and lack of signage that this is a new bar but Cobbler has been open around 18 months now and it's popularity has grown with locals and those who come across town to sample its ever expanding range.

While there are no food options on the menu, the bar graciously accepts any outside food to be ordered in or brought with you to your table to indulge in while you drink. Often a food truck will be just close by so you can have a tasty taco or burger and consume it in the elegance of the bar.

The decor is eclectic and eccentric as so many bars and cafes are homogenising that 'kerbside chic' these days. However, someone with taste and a knowledge of interior design took the right elements of grandpa eclectica and modernised it cohesively to give a warm, dark but inviting feeling as soon as you walk in the door.

Upstairs is a second floor where you can overlook the downstairs bar, play a bit of 'foosball' or just sit in the comfy couches while you chat with your friends. The staff even deliver drinks if the bar isn't too manic and the grafitti-style artwork on the walls almost automatically enters the conversation as you relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and we felt completely looked after the various times we have been here. I wholeheartedly recommend it for the whisky lover or even just those who like to go for a delicious cocktail, wine or beer as their menu is sure to cater to any palette. This is the perfect spot for the over 30's crowd who prefer a good night out to a loud nightclub.
