CoastSnap Beach Monitoring
Experience More - Subscribe to Our Weekly Events Newsletter
CoastSnap is a global citizen science network that harnesses your snap to capture changing coastlines. CoastSnap uses simple technology such as a smartphone to monitor coastal change. Our coastlines are always changing. Powerful storms move sand offshore, which typically returns during calmer conditions. Your participation in beach and coastline monitoring will help to understand and manage coastal environments for future generations.
You can find CoastSnap Stations all around the world. No matter where you are in the world, if you have a smartphone and an interest in the coast, you are welcome to participate in this project. All you need to do is follow:
1. place your phone on its side in the cradle
2. take a photo (please note don't use the zoom function)
3. share by using CoastSnap App at this site
and select "update spot" or post on social media using hashtag #CoastSnap your CoastSnap Stations, such as #CoastSnap Yeppoon.
You can also scan the QR code on your CoastSnap Station using a smartphone camera to learn about the history of the beach or asked questions.
Share your snap and see how our beaches change over time.
