Summer school holidays are just around the corner and I can only imagine that all the Moms and Dads out there are scratching their heads trying to come up with enterprising activities to keep the children active and entertained.
The Department of National Parks, Sport and Racing are running three and five hour activity sessions at their Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast Recreation Centres for children aged 8 plus and their families. You have a great choice: either drop the children off and get some much needed 'me' time or join in the fun yourself.
For the schedule of activities and times at each centre, please see under Registration at lower end of article.
Sunshine Coast Summer: Monday 12 December 2016 to Wednesday 14 December 2016; and Monday 9 January 2017 to Friday 13 January 2017.
Gold Coast Summer: Thursday 15 December 2016 to Wednesday 21 December 2016; and Monday 16 January 2017 - Friday 20 January 2017.
The endless variety of activities is sure to keep everyone entertained.

Body boarding, like surfing, has a strong surf awareness component. This great activity is enjoyed by all but is perfect for the younger participants as almost everyone can expect to successfully ride a board.
The first of its kind in Australia - an awesome new caving system. Equipped with a head torch and your buddies, you can expect to be twisting, turning, climbing, squeezing and sliding through a maze of passages - a fun-filled adventure. The caving system is jam-packed with features that replicate natural caves, ensuring you have the opportunity to participate in the unique thrill and challenge of 'spelunking'.
Experience the underwater world from your own personal viewing platform…a feeling of walking on water. Participants will be taught the required paddle skills and board control to learn one of Australia's fastest growing recreational sports.
