Coaldrake's Bookshop and Espresso Bar

Located within the stylish Emporium shopping precinct in Fortitude Valley lies Coaldrake's Bookshop & Espresso Bar. Established over ten years ago, Coaldrake's continues to be one of the stars of Brisbane's local book scene. With their collection specialising in literature, history, children's books and travel books, there's more than enough on offer to attract the passing customer.

The store seems to ooze stylishness with everything, from the array of kitsch greeting cards and luxury notebooks, to the attentive and well-presented staff, adding to the feeling of being in a place devoted to quality.

In a lot of bookstore cafes one has to make do with sandwiches, rolls and all things microwaved. However the menu at Coaldrake's is pleasantly diverse, with the inclusion of cooked breakfast items evidently delighting our fellow customers. The avocado turkish toast (which was served with a slice of lemon) was delicious.

At the end of the day, Coaldrake's may not have the widest range of books, but they can boast of having selected only the best titles available. Everything about the store has been done in impeccable taste which made the experience of shopping and eating there a pleasure.
