Looking for somewhere to lunch for a colleague's retirement lunch we wandered along Victoria Square and happened across a sign outside the Hilton Hotel for the Coal Cellar & Grill restaurant - Express Lunch for $25 includes a main with a glass of house wine, beer or soft drink and coffee. So in we went and were pleasantly surprised.
The mains were full size serves and absolutely delicious. There was even a vegetarian option which pleased the one vegetarian diner amongst us who thought they would be lunching on a glass of wine and a cup of coffee.
There was a choice of two wines, I can't remember the second option but we chose the Shiraz which was a very nice wine indeed. The wine was a bottle of Kirrihill Shiraz. The menu changes every second Monday, click here for the current express lunch menu
The only thing that spoilt the lunch was we were asked if we wanted still or sparkling water, we opted for still water, thinking it would be table water. The water arrived at the table in a plain glass refillable bottle so we happily drank the water only to find out that we had been charged $17 for still water which I suspect was filtered tap water. So if you skip the still water it is a great value lunch.
