Clunes Booktown 2012.
Clunes' annual Booktown event is on this weekend, 5-6 May. For two days, the once thriving gold-rush town will transform itself into a literary haven. The Clunes community supports this unique festival, which this year has seen it receive the honour of being recognised as Australia's first International Booktown.
The festival will host a variety of writers and publishers as part of an interesting program; which includes workshops, readings and discussions. Book enthusiasts need only purchase a badge for $5/2 to gain entry to all events. Browse through hundreds of books while you enjoy local food, wine and live music.
Things you will discover in Booktown:
• rare books, old books, new books — lots and lots of books
• great writers; Alice Pung, Hazel Edwards, Anna Goldsworthy,Geoffrey Blainey and more
• Victoria State Library rare book presentation
• Children's Narnia world.

Clunes is an easy ninety minute drive from Melbourne along the Western highway. Alternatively, book lovers can travel to Clunes via Ballarat on V/Line with coach connections.
