If you're a book lover, save the dates in your diary for a weekend filled with celebration, exploration, and community, set against the backdrop of Victoria's literary heartland. This massive event will run over the weekend of 23-24 March 2024 at 70 Service Street, Clunes. Nestled approximately 30 minutes from Ballarat, spend a couple of days from sunrise to sunset in the charming township of Clunes. The Clunes Booktown Festival is packed with engaging activities including author and artist talks, interactive workshops and live entertainment for the whole family. Explore the outdoor book bazaar featuring over a hundred stall holders and fully immerse yourself in the captivating story that Clunes has to tell. Entry is free with goods available for purchase. Entry may be free, but you might want to check out the Events and make your bookings so as not to miss out on talks, workshops, panels and the Saturday night live music Tin Shed Show which attracts a cost.

This outdoor book bazaar with over a hundred stallholders filled with new, secondhand and rare treasures will keep you engaged and have you immersed in Clunes from cover to cover as it transforms once again into a hub of literary discovery and cultural celebration. There's also all-day music to enjoy, and a plethora of family-friendly activities to take part in. This year's festival boasts an impressive array of authors and thinkers, including luminaries like Helen Garner, Tony Birch, Sofie Laguna, Alice Pung, Maxine Beneba Clarke, and Toni Jordan. Prepare to be engaged by panel highlights such as 'Making Queer History,' where Michael Earp, Wayne Murdoch, and Ange Bailey, guided by Dennis Altman, will explore the importance of preserving queer narratives. 'Building a Career' presents a compelling dialogue with First Nations chef, restaurateur, and author Nornie Bero, and academic Crystal McKinnon, moderated by Tony Birch—highlighting their journeys towards empowerment and recognition.
