Sydney Opera House is playing host to this year's cabaret-acrobatic style performance Club Swizzle . Like La Soiree and the more recent Blanc de Blanc, the Studio at the Opera House provides a perfect stage for the show.



As you enter, the purple mist and haze may cloud your vision of the stage and seating but what is unmissable in the long bar in the centre. As patrons get settled into their seats or positions, the bar is converted into a stage and the band starts playing at the head of the bar. The band is called Mikey and the Nightcaps and do a fabulous job of keeping the music flowing all evening.



The MC is New Yorker Murray Hill. The drag king is absolutely hilarious and picks innocent members of the audience for his jokes and for the Murray Hill challenge (I am not going to reveal the challenge just in case you are yet to watch it). The magic of Murray Hill is such that no one says no to him; whether he asks for a kiss or to make out in public, the audience always obliges. As he gets the evening going, he introduces the rest of the performers and their acts.

The cast also includes the talented and funny Amy G on skates. Her performances are outrageously funny and perhaps one of the best of the lot. Her act on her being an American left the audience laughing to bits

Accompanying the acts were the Swizzle Boys. The handsome boys are extremely adept in their feats whether it be a pole or a ring. Give them a bottle of alcohol and watch them better each act with their incredible bodies and tricks. My favourite remains their act with the pole and I was in awe each and every moment.



Club Swizzle is for patrons 18 years and over only. It contains adult themes around alcohol and nudity. While I will admit I have seen better shows, this one would still be worth the money for the 2 hour entertainment. It probably doesn't go down the books as the best ever.
