For the second half of the twentieth century, Cloudland ballroom enchanted and mesmerised the thousands of Brisbane residents who walked through its doors. Now, a namesake club strives to do the same thing.

Cloudland (641 Ann Street)is a four story mega club in the heart of Fortitude Valley. The retractable glass roof means that it can also be an open air, beer garden style venue. According to Cloudland's interior designer, Nic Brunner, the vision is futuristic Garden of Eve, with loads of gleaming chrome, multi coloured lights and more than 5000 climbing plants providing the wow factor.

The club has two bars, Madame Hedges and Crystal Palais, which both serve tapas and cocktails. Madame Hedges is a laid back beer garden with sixteen beers on tap, while the Crystal Palais is an ostentatious mezzanine bar offering private booths and premium champagne. Cloudland Tapas includes selections like Peking duck spring rolls, black Boston mussel and zucchini and goats curd fritters, while the cocktail menu offers creations like Rose Street Highball (vodka, rose syrup, grapefruit juice and soda) and the delightfully named Bloody Mess (Chivas Regal, Campari, vermouth and orange juice).

Cloudland is a club for a more mature demographic and provides a range of grown up activities such as whiskey tasting sessions and Thursday night dance classes. Even on a Friday or Saturday night, the atmosphere is more sedate than the average Valley nightclub. If you're at an age where you still like to go out, but you don't like screaming over loud music or getting ridiculously drunk, Cloudland is the venue for you.

Cloudland is open from 11.00am until late on Wednesday to Sunday.
