If you wish to experience a truly unique bar restaurant then look no further than Cloudland, located at 641 Ann Street, Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. I'm from Sydney and have never in my life seen anything quiet like it, in fact I haven't seen any bar like it in all my world travels.
This sensational bar restaurant venue is owned by Australia's largest and most successful independent hospitality groups, The Katarzyna Group. They own an impressive array of venues, restaurants and accommodation including not only Cloudland, but Family, Press Club, Bincho, Birdees and Bunk Backpackers.
After entering, you feel almost like you are inside a luscious greenhouse with a couple of hundred vines and plants sprawling across the interior walls and balconies. Intricate details are everywhere you look from the floor, walls, furnishings, bar to the chandeliers.
It's a hard choice to decided exactly where to sit. The lower level has a stunning solid marble bar and the upper level a bar containing thousands of glass balls, creating a vibrant visual sensation later in the night.
I was so enthralled with the amount of detail and effort that had gone into the interior design of this magnificent place. My mouth was ajar in wonder as I wandered through snapping a few photos. The decor was so impressive, not one inch had been neglected.
You can't help but feel a sense of being in an exotic jungle paradise. If you weren't already impressed then you will be when you realise the whole venue is contained under a glass retractable roof, which opens at the flick of a switch - creating a perfect outdoor experience. Even the toilets were luxurious; mirrors designed to give you the impression the room extends forever and walls with beautiful detailed papering, chandeliers and soft lighting to flatter any complexion.
The four floor venue contains an Italian restaurant, two main bars, several private booths and function and event areas. I was in love with all the private booth areas and visions of Scarface and Al Pacino entered my head.
The menudesigned by executive chef Gary Farrell consists of shared plates and larger meals . The shared plates are ideal for couples or groups that just want to have a few drinks and nibbles. We ordered Arancini, Barramundi and crispy fried Calamari. Washed down with a jug of Sangria, followed by a few vodkas, finishing with delicious Espresso Martinis.
If you want to dress up in your finest and feel totally decadent surrounded by glamour ,then this is your place. All princesses are welcome and men need to go to an effort too, as the evening heats up when the live band begins at 9.30pm. I was pleased I wore my gold frock!
