Closer' was released in July 1980, two months after the death of Ian Curtis, lead singer of Joy Division. 'Closer' features the classic Joy Division tracks 'Isolation', 'Colony' and 'Heart and Soul'.
Closer - A Joy Division Celebration with Peter Hook is a special live music event, which will see Joy Division bassist Peter Hook ('Hooky' to the fans) perform each track from the classic album, as well as tracks from the Joy Division début album 'Unknown Pleasures' and the compilation album 'Still.' This anticipated concert event follows the successful 'Unknown Pleasures' 30th Anniversary Tour in 2010.
This is a rare opportunity for Joy Division fans (and New Order fans) to hear 'Closer' live. As the event title suggests, this is a musical 'celebration' of 'Closer', an album which forever changed the alternative music soundscape. To say 'Closer' was influential, is putting it lightly, without it, bands such as Interpol, Bloc Party, The Killers and Editors probably would not exist.
