Between 6 and 15 November 2013, Friends of the Earth will conduct their Climate Connections Speaking Tour of the East Coast. They'll be stopping in Brisbane on 7 November, Sydney on 12 November and Melbourne on 14 November.

Featuring speakers from Friends of the Earth, Indonesia , the event's focus is export coal mining in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. Australian coal mining investors are playing a significant role in the current push to expand activity, which means destroying some of the world's most diverse and important rainforest areas. BHP Billiton and Cokal have been putting pressure on the Indonesian government to open up protected forests in the Upper Barito Basin.

The tour will give Australian audiences the opportunity to find out more about the potential consequences of this for both Indonesian communities and the planet, and to discover how they can support Friends of the Earth's campaign against excessive mining, especially in fragile ecosystems.
