Why didn't I think of that?! You may have uttered that phrase when you've see a solution to an otherwise fussy, fiddly or boring task. I guarantee you'll be uttering those words more than once at these ingenious little tips, tricks and ideas that solve everyday problems.

[ADVERT]A few fun things to do around the house over the summer holidays or when the weather is bad. Get the whole family involved and tap into your crafty side.

Strawberries are synonymous with summer. Go and buy some fresh strawberries or better yet, go and pick some yourself at a PYO farm. When you have enough why not hull them to make fillings, jams, sauces, desserts? An easy way to hull the strawberries is to insert a plastic straw through the bottom and hey presto- neat juicy strawberries!

Whilst we are on the subject of fruit, take this handy fruity trick and use it at picnics or for the kid's pack lunch. Cut up an apple by dicing it, then put it back together and hold it in place with an elastic band. It stops the apple browning.

Dropped an earring or a button? Put a stocking or pair of tights on the end of the vacuum. Start the hoover up and your small item will be sucked up and stuck on the end where the tights block it from being sucked in. Cool huh?

Going on holiday? Make sure you pack some baby powder; it helps get sand off of your skin quickly and smoothly. Who knew?

Got a mini Monet or Van Gogh on your hands? Remove crayon masterpieces from your TV or computer screen with WD-40 (also works on walls and oil stains in driveway).

Overhaul your linen cupboard. Store bed linen sets inside one of their own pillowcases and there will be no more hunting through piles for a match.

Freeze berries, grapes and cherries for tasty sweet snacks. They can also be used as alternatives to ice cubes or added to a smoothie mix for a cool berry blast.

If you are going away for the day or on holiday then pack your shoes in a disposable shower cap. This will keep your shoes soles away from your clothes and also protects shoes from any cosmetic spills.

Dry electrical items- like your phone- by removing the sim card, switching it off and placing it in a bag of rice for 72 hours. I have no idea how it works but it does.

Brought a cool new pair of shoes but can't get the sticker off the bottom? Rub it with a make-up removing face wipe, et voila!

Having a party or a picnic? Keep bugs at bay by covering your drinks with cupcake holders turned upside down, insert a straw and drink. Looks pretty too!
