Listening to some live music performed by a talented young gentleman at a local club on the weekend I was reminded of a song that was quite a big hit when I was a youngster in the early 70's:
Everything Old Is New Again. Do you remember this oldie (and not necessarily a goodie)?
Dancin' at church, Long Island jazzy parties
Waiter bring us some more Baccardi
We'll order now what they ordered then
Cause everything old is new again
Lyrics of
Everything Old Is New Again by Peter Allen
So I was sitting in this club with a chilled glass of wine. Oh, did I tell you it was the local bowling club?

SammyB . Who knew bowling greens could be so attractive?
I've never been to a bowling club before, by choice. Visits were only ever because there was a birthday or anniversary celebration. Usually one of those major milestones - you know, lots and lots of candles. My father was a keen bowler. Three times a week once he retired, and although I have no doubt there were huge health and wellness benefits, as well as the positives of social interaction, my mindset had it that the game of bowls was for a certain demographic.
With a few hours spare on Sunday I found myself at the recently refurbished
Cleveland Sharks Sports Club, at 164 Middle Street, Cleveland. This facility has not only undergone a paint job but a transformation as what was previously known as the Cleveland Bowls Club recently sold its operational and management rights to the Victoria Point Sharks Sporting Club. Still focussing exclusively on bowls this Club is the personification of "Everything Old Is New Again".
First of all, the game of bowls itself. So we know they relaxed the rules sometime ago and the white uniform rule was relaxed, and barefoot bowls was welcomed to create a more social feel to this team sport. Did you know there is a new, quicker bowling competition sweeping the country called Jack Attack? Although it still requires skill this format is family friendly and a great way to introduce the younger members of the tribe to bowling greens. And do you know what? Walking up and down the greens in fresh air is a pretty relaxing exercise.

Quite a peaceful view really
This club has also modernised its dining facilities with the Crackerjack Cafe open from Wednesdays through to Sundays, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can dine outside or inside in air conditioned comfort.

To be honest I was excited by their current promotion of twelve meals for twelve dollars, with choices for all dietary requirements. More importantly, it continued the family friendly theme.

Twelve For Twelve
The Cleveland Sharks Sports Club is a great venue to meet friends, enjoy a meal, and have a crack at Jack Attack. For information about their next Sunday with live music included go
