Life is simple, just add water
Don't be fooled by its name, the Adventure Pool at Cleveland Aquatic Centre is best described as a children's aquatic playground. This fully fenced recreational space boasts two pools, a wide selection of aquatic play accessories, a sheltered picnic area and relaxed seating for parents.
The main pool offers beach-style entry and a water depth suitable for splashing and wading. The highlight of this pool is a brightly coloured enclosed water slide. A much smaller slide for younger children is positioned in the middle of the pool. The design carefully considers younger children by providing a smaller slide towards the centre of the pool. Children of all abilities can enjoy various fountains and water squirters, two water jet guns and a fountain of tipping water buckets. This section is very well shaded with seating positioned along the water's edge.
The second body of water is a gently flowing whirlpool, complete with a cave and flowing waterfall. This pool is ideal for both children and their supervising adults. Although there are shallow ledges for entering the pool, the depth of the water requires swimming. Alternatively, children could use some form of flotation device and simply drift along with the current.
Users can swim right under the waterfall and relax on seating within the cave. The current to access the cave may be too strong for less capable swimmers and again, would require parental assistance.
Finally, a grassy area with barbeque, picnic table and undercover shelter allows for extended visits or bookings for parties.
Cleveland Aquatic Centre also boasts a 25m outdoor pool with ramp access, a 50m outdoor pool and an indoor training pool. Other facilities include a kiosk, a dining area overlooking the pools and toilets/changing rooms with handicapped access.
