Clayton Park is the main park of Beachmere Town. This little town is near Bribie Island, where there is another park called Clayton Park and both Beachmere and Bribie Island are accessed via the Bribie Island turn-off near the Bruce Highway. Both parks are named after former Caboolture Shire chairman during most of the 1950s and some of the 1960s, Sidney Clayton. He is long remembered for his instrumental role in the construction of the Bribie Island Bridge, which was a toll road for twelve years after opening. Beachmere is an hour's drive north of Brisbane Central and the Beachmere version of Clayton Park is the topic of this review.

With basketball court; car park, dog off-leash area, electric BBQ, fitness equipment, play equipment, rubbish bin, seating, shelter, skate park, tables, toilets and water fountain, all near the town's caravan park and motel, Clayton Park is the main park of Beachmere. There are also event spaces that require bookings. This is a map of the event site from the Moreton Bay Regional Council - responsible for the park's management. Nearby is much smaller Lehman Park, which has a carpark, some shaded areas and a playground and a path that leads into Clayton Park. Lehman Park is a good place to park for access to ocean views. Further up from Lehman Park is Mazlin Park , which is small but is officially a park in the regional council's directory.

Clayton Park has a water tower , which was to be transformed in 2020 to celebrate the naming of Beachmere 150 years earlier in 1870. The celebrations were put on hold due to COVID-19, so the project is still ongoing.

From my perspective, it was a quiet park - especially for a sunny Saturday afternoon, with walking tracks in workable or near-perfect condition. It was a fairly new looking place but the facilities seemed in great condition. There is a war memorial near the corner of Moreton Terrace and Main Street. It had a lot of shade on the walking path and a convenient bus stop for the 652 bus timetable , which does an hourly round trip from Caboolture Station during business hours and Saturday less frequently - with some journeys occurring irregularly outside those, but not on Sunday.

According to my source from Moreton Bay Regional Council, Beachmere is still classified as a village but has about 4000 inhabitants and there is a larger shopping centre nearby with IGA and a selection of shops and restaurants while the smaller Beachmere Plaza has a petrol station and takeaway outlets.
