Walking along busy Logan Road in Holland Park, you'd be forgiven for passing by the small cake emporium which stands at the end of the shopping strip. Classic Cakes has only a tiny window to look in up it's lavish interior yet once you step inside, you'll be transported to a quaint cafe which could be as far flung as the English countryside or chic south of France.



The front counter is full of house-made sweets and treats to scoff with your tea or coffee in the elegant surroundings. The Gluten Free Coconut Raspberry Slice caught my eye but I could easily have chosen from a huge range of delectable sweets in the cabinet. I will definitely be back to try the cupcakes and other baked goods which were on offer here.



There is ample seating in this boutique cafe which caters for pairs of diners with a few larger tables for groups of four. This would be the perfect spot to go with your bestie for a cup of tea, cake and to catch up in style.

Perhaps though, the most incredible aspect of the business was the beautiful cakes which were akin to works of art. 3D Floral cakes adorned the walls while others depicting happy couples, bottles of wine and any image you could think of sat on pedestals and under glass around the shop. The owner described them as one of the most labour intensive patisserie styles but she made them for the love and passion of producing a work of art each time she made a custom order. You can get your own handmade cake for your special occasion.



Classic Cakes also offers cake decorating classes where all materials and tools are supplied and you can settle in to learn the basics of this incredible artform. With options to make a Noddy Cake, Easter Basket or Mother's Day Cake, there are lots of reasons to try a workshop as a fun activity or to give to a loved one as a gift.



This is a gorgeous little slice of heaven in the middle of bustling Holland Park and now I know it's here, I will be frequenting it often when my sweet-tooth cravings hit.
