Clare Valley Wine & Wilderness Trail – Stage 2 Opening


The Clare Valley Wine & Wilderness Trail is a 100km trail through the Clare Valley designed for walking and cycling. It is currently being constructed one section at a time, and will showcase the region's natural beauty and premium food & wine products.

The trail is split into 6 stages, each traversing through a different section of beautiful wine country with a few strategic stops at wineries along the way. Stage 1 is already open.

Stage 2 is scheduled to open officially to the public on October 3, a stunning trail passing through 8 private properties as well as Spring Gully Conservation Park.


Commencing at Jim Barry Wines at the northern end of Clare, the trail stretches 19km southward ending at the secluded Jeanneret Wines tucked in the Skilly Valley. For those not sure about the full 19km, Eldredge Wines is conveniently located at the 12km mark for those who need a rest, coffee, or a sneaky wine to break up the activity.

Get a group together and throw on the activewear – it's a great way to gather for some casual walking & talking, work off some winter layers and check out some stunning countryside from a perspective never seen by the public!

What is the Clare Valley Wine & Wilderness Trail?
* When completed, a 100km walking / cycling trail around the Clare Valley.
* The trail will begin and end at the Clare Valley Wine, Food & Tourism Centre.
* The trail will showcase the region's natural beauty and premium food & wine products.
* Once complete, the trail will pass 24 cellar doors and numerous restaurants and cafes.
* The trail will be a public trail available to locals and visitors. Users of the trail will be free to complete the entire route or smaller sections.
* Walkers would take 5 days to complete the entire route, cyclists between 2-5 days.
* Part of the trail will be a combined trail for both walkers & cyclists; at other times walkers and cyclists will take slightly different routes.
* The trail will travel on a network of backroads, road reserves & private property.
* The trail will consist of 6 stages, each approx 15-20km in length.
* Stage 1 from the Clare valley Wine, Food & Tourism Centre to Jim Barry Wines is now open.
* The target completion date for stages 2 – 6 is Easter 2022.
