See you there, Love Clare
This time of year can be pretty cold and unpleasant, unless of course, you can imagine yourself in the fabulous Clare Valley, meandering your way between iconic wineries, indulging in fantastic wines and amazing gourmet food.
Spend the weekend of 18 to 21 May 2018 in the Clare Valley and forget about the dull and dreary winter while indulging in a weekend of gourmet delights.
This 34th Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend will showcase 36 wineries, two breweries and a large number of regional restaurants. There will be special events including degustation lunches and dinners, a gourmet farmers market, competitions, masterclasses and educational activities.
If you have managed to get Friday away from work, head up the Valley a little earlier and enjoy some of the great opening day special events, well before the crowds arrive. There will be drinks, tastings, food and music at a range of locations.
Or start your weekend on Friday at 5 pm at the Gateway to Gourmet Weekend special event at the Clare Valley Wine Food & Tourism Centre, 8 Spring Gully Road, Clare. Wines will be available at 'Happy Hour' prices and meals available for purchase. While there, purchase your gourmet glass or survival kit which includes a bottle of water, muffin, packet of Pangkarra Bean Mix snack, rain poncho and Hydralyte sachet. Kits are $10 and entry to the event is free.
Saturday provides so many events to choose from, you are going to have difficulty choosing. Join in Stoked - Hellfire Cooking with Seed Winehouse & Kitchen at Shut the Gate or maybe join a master class at Taylors Wines.
If you anticipating a great weekend and do not want to drive, buses will be heading up from Adelaide, Gawler and the Barossa Valley on Saturday only. Further information is available from LinkSA, Monday to Friday 8.30 am – 5 pm at LinkSA on 8532 2633.
Once you are in the Clare Valley, shuttle buses will be operating on timetable loops and will transport you around participating wineries. Tickets include multiple pick-up and drop-off points and can be purchased at online for $33 per person.
Why not travel with someone who prefers the food to the wine? Designated drivers can collect an identifying wristband from the Tourism Centre or at participating venues and take advantage of exclusive offers.
