The Clare Valley region is home to countless wineries, gorgeous vistas, and some very friendly people, but unless you're lucky enough to live here visiting means you'll be on the lookout for accommodation.
The has everything you need, and then some, providing a great gateway to this beautiful region.
While the country club is less than a 5 minute drive to the Clare main drag, it's still tucked away enough that you feel like you're really embracing the clear country air.
There are many room packages, to suit a variety of needs, and even the most basic rooms come with a relaxing spa bath. The standard rooms feature a combined sleeping and living room, with a dining table, television, and ensuite bathroom. You can upgrade to a two-person room, or go all out on one of the studio, two-bedroom, or three-bedroom apartments. The features of all accommodation types can be
found on their website .
With a name like the you'd expect a few extra amenities, there are tennis courts, a golf course, gymnasium, spa & sauna, and a swimming pool. These are great if you're spending a decent amount of time in the region, as you might not want to spend every single day breezing around to wineries. It's nice to be able to take a break at 'home'.
Even if you have had a day at the wineries, it's still nice to take some time out back at the hotel. You can grab a bottle of wine and some fresh produce, and set up a picnic. The country club sits on
Inchiquin Lake , which is a beautiful spot on a clear day. Around the pool area you'll also find a barbeque, and outdoor seating.
If you're not in the mood for cooking you might prefer to walk up to
Conners Restaurant and Bar . In the mornings you can enjoy a buffet breakfast, with cereals, pastries, fresh fruit, and hot foods, and at lunch and dinner you can enjoy top quality dining.
The menu is far more interesting than you'd expect from a country hotel restaurant, and there are even some delicious desserts to try. You can enjoy a
set menu with some packages, which means all your meals are included in your room price.
The hotel not only provides a place to stay, but head up to the reception and you'll be able to plan a full day, weekend, or even week in the Clare Valley. Not only do staff have plenty of knowledge of which wineries are most popular, and which ones you shouldn't miss, but they'll also be able to provide you with every brochure and map you could ever ask for.
If you want to go winery hopping but are without a designated driver, they'll help you get in contact with a mini van or chauffeur service. Or if you're after a lunch suggestion, they'll happily point you in the right direction.
You're not likely to run out of things to do up in Clare. Wineries are the main attraction, and there are so many to choose from, but other things like fresh produce markets, cider & beer breweries, cafes, and more, will all help make your stay a good one. Be prepared to drive a bit (or get someone else to drive you) because there are plenty more things to see once you've driven 30 minutes out of the main township.
There are even some great events held up here, including
A Day on the Green at
Annie's Lane Winery ,
The Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend , or the
Clare Races .
Check out the website for more information on packages and availability. The Clare Valley is about a 2 hour drive north of Adelaide.
