Claire's Circus School offers children and adults an intense way to develop flexibility and strength while the focus is on fun. Founder Claire Ogden began her training in her 20's and became addicted to the mental clarity required to develop the body awareness and muscle memory which makes a seemingly effortless circus act.
Now she also tutors children and adults on the core conditioning, basic skills and showbiz flourishes which make a great workout or an impressive performance.
Claire looks effortless; you will feel your arms for months
Her classes are available around Brisbane and you can check the website for times and locations. The first half of her weekend class focuses on acrobalance which involves a 'base' who supports the 'flier' to do two person acrobatic tricks. Although the class builds in complexity Claire supports the development of new and veteran attendees equally and is eager to help students develop skills which inspire them (Handstands! Splits! Aerial teardrops!).
Find skills you didn't know you had!
The second half of the class uses the tissu: two long lengths of cloth suspended from a very high ceiling. After mastering a series of basic climbs and wraps you can then develop routines which create elegant aerial shapes yet require incredible strength and agility. Each class will take a week to recover from!
See why Claire is voted People's Choice! Too delightful!
Claire won the People's Choice Award at the Valentine's Busk (presented by Brisbane Festival) and her teaching manner and easy laugh is equally likeable. If you are interested in circus performance or want the head to toe body sculpting of this athletic pursuit then visit Claire's Circus School to arrange your trial class.
Core strength, flexibility and a smile. You can bring at least one.
