Winter is the perfect time to try out some of Western Australia's best wines. And , which this year celebrates five years of showcasing WA's leading boutique wineries in the heart of Perth, presents an ideal opportunity for winter wine tasting.

The two day event will be held on June 8 and 9 at the Urban Orchard in the Perth Cultural Centre. As well as more than a dozen local wineries, craft beer, cider and spirits will served, along with tapas style food from a total of 25 stalls.

There will also be a Sparking Bar serving Sparkling Shiraz, Pet Nat, Sparkling Rose and Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir and a Mojito Bar will be serving cocktails.

Organiser of the event, Richard Campbell, says is a great way to share time with friends and taste fabulous WA wines, some will be old favourites and some will be new.

Crowds will be entertained with live music from two three-piece bands, The Prefix and Hart Trio, which will provide a blend of original music along with rhythm and blues, funk jazz, rock, would and pop.

Food stalls include Caviar Catering, Gyoza Joint, Tapasman, That Food Truck, The West Wings Co, Locale Kitchen, Shakshuka and Two Queens Woodfired Street Food.

The event typically attracts a crowd of city workers on the Friday who can walk across to the Cultural Centre and then on the Saturday attracts people from further afield who can share a few drinks with friends and take advantage of excellent public transport links.

There's plenty of space to relax in the Entertainment Lounge and the Garden Courtyard and the Skyline Terrace has views over the city. It's a great time of year for winter wine drinking and could also be a good time to wander around the new Yagan Square or take in a local restaurant or small bar.

This year organisers are keeping the event open for an extra hour on the Friday closing at 10pm and opening at 4pm. Saturday opening hours are from 2pm to 9pm.

Tickets, which include a souvenir glass and complimentary wine tastings cost $26 pre-purchase or $30 at the gate. Food and wine to drink by the glass or bottles to take home are also for sale. A wine locker for those wanting somewhere to leave their purchases until they are ready to leave is at the front gate.

A ticket that includes a Plumm Tasting Glass for those looking for the best wine tasting experience is available for $36 pre-purchase or at the gate for $40. Children under 18 are free with a guardian.

Wine, beer and spirit vendors include Funk Cider, Churchview, Frog Choir, Settlers Ridge Organic Wines, Windance, Clown Fish, Gage Roads Brewing Co, Harmans Estate, Pieroth, Streicker, Talisman, Fifth Estate, Gilberts, Happs, Run A Muck Cider Co, Flying Fish Cove, Grace Farm, Lancaster, Limeburners Single Malt Whisky, Margaret River Pisco and Thorny Devil. The Sparkling Bar will be serving Castelli Estate's Sparkling Pinot Noir, Garbin Estate's Sparkling Rose, La Violetta's Pet Nat and Moojelup Farm's Sparkling Shiraz.
