The world famous hop on, hop off double decker bus service of City Sightseeing is now driving through the streets of Melbourne.



If you've ever travelled through major cities like London or New York then you'll probably recognise these distinctive red, open-top buses. Originating in 1999 in Seville, Spain this iconic company has grown to service nearly 100 destinations worldwide. And now, it's Melbourne's turn.

Starting in Federation Square the tour takes a large loop of the city, absorbing Melbourne's most famous sights. Here are all the stops:

Stop 4 - DFO / HILTON SOUTH WHARF
Stop 5 - HARBOUR TOWN
Stop 6 - ETIHAD STADIUM

Stop 9 - LYGON ST
Stop 10 - IMAX/ MELBOURNE MUSEUM
Stop 11 - COMEDY THEATRE / ANZ BUILDING

The hop on, hop off service allows you to explore the city at you own pace with buses running every 40 minutes. If you decide to stay on the bus, the entire tour takes around 90 minutes.

You have a choice of two types of ticket: a 24 hour unlimited travel ticket is $35.50 for adults and $15 for children, while you can opt for a 48 hour unlimited travel ticket for $45.50 for adults and $25.50 for children. The latter option gives you a little more freedom to see the entire city over, say a weekend if you like.



If you're a local, like me, then this is a really fun way of seeing the city with a fresh set of eyes. It feels a little like you're on holidays and seeing the city for the first time. Everyone's got their cameras out, pointing at things and smiling. The open-air roof seating gives you 360 degree views of everything too – on a sunny day it's just beautiful.
