A stay at home Mum who doesn't stay at home much; too many exciting things to be discovering in this city...
Take a walk on the wild side this winter
Queen Victoria Village - or QV as it is affectionately known - will be welcoming winter to Melbourne with an interactive art installation which is not only heaps of fun, but also FREE! To top it off, you can win a share in over $6000 worth of prizes by joining in a digital gaming experience based around the art. Confused? Read on.
For the uninitiated, QV is a leading shopping precinct in Melbourne's CBD which plays host to a variety of Australian and international designer stores and restaurants. The precinct occupies a whole city block and features an open-air design with an abundance of speciality stores running the length of its laneways. From May 1st until May 22nd, you can immerse yourself in the City Safari installation which has been designed by Tom Rippon - an artist of some 30 years who has previously had work commissioned by the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne Zoo and Crown Casino.
Tom has created life-sized animal sculptures in neon colours which can be found hidden among the shops in QV. Children will love taking part in this wild scavenger hunt and discovering elephants, giraffes and cheetahs in such an unlikely location. Additionally, by following animal tracks along the laneways you will find secret QR codes (matrix barcodes) that can be scanned into your mobile phone for a chance to win big prizes. Up for grabs are: a $300 Republic Boutique gift voucher, a Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer and a $200 QV Hair gift voucher, to name but a few. By taking a selfie with one of the safari sculptures and posting it to Instagram, you also stand a chance of winning a $250 gift card.
To get the full low down on this fun event, go to the QV website. Anyone wanting to participate in the fun can turn up at Safari Village in QV Square on level two - no booking is required. The gaming experience will be running for 3 weeks from 10am until 7pm every day of the week. Take a walk on the wild side if you dare!
