I love the things we have here in South Australia – the fabulous food, wine, people and places – beauty everywhere. And, for more beauty in my life, I own and operate a gorgeous little gallery called Mrs Harris’ Shop:

Summer fun for everyone

We can all think of a song or two to express the delights of summer, but really, who needs them when we have the annual West Torrens Summer Festival?

For ten years now, the City of West Torrens has been delighting residents (and visitors from across the metropolitan area) with its award-winning festival, catering for children, families and adults.

And, 2019 is no exception, with a great line-up of offerings and some new locations added to the mix.

For families, the best news, no doubt, is the FREE ENTRY to the wide variety of events.

Spread across the rest of the summer, you'll find movie nights at Open Air Cinema, a series of Little Days (in and out), plus repeat appearances of great family events, All Together Now, Thebartonia and Take a Fork on the Westside.

Starting at sunset, Open Air Cinema is a real favourite, with movies, fun activities, food and refreshments available. Being a family friendly event, BYO food and refreshments (including alcohol) is permitted – which makes it a budget-friendly event too. For a really comfortable night, bring your own chairs and blankets.

Loads of kid-friendly activities

Along with the fun activities (like face painting, storytelling, games and the like), there's a great selection of movies:
Saturday, January 5 at West Torrens Memorial Gardens: Peter Rabbit
Saturday, January 19 at West Torrens Memorial Gardens: Coco
Saturday, January 26 at Lindfield Reserve, Novar Gardens: Ant-man and the Wasp
Saturday, January 26 at Rex Jones Reserve, North Plympton: Paddington 2

Activities start at 5pm and go through until 10:30pm. For further details, about the movies, or the activities at each event, please visit the Council website

Then, there are three 'Little Days' on the program – two 'out' and one 'in'.
