The Queen's Baton Relay is coming to the City of Swan on Monday 26th of February, 2018 and to celebrate this monumental event, the City of Swan is staging an epic day of family-friendly festivities from Midland Town Hall to Stirling Square!The City of Swan leg of the Baton Relay will kick off with historic balcony fanfare at the Midland Town Hall from 3:30pm with free and fun events popping up at locations all the way to the festival finale at Stirling Square, Guildford!
You can choose to pick a prime viewing area, or follow the baton as it moves along.Volunteers will be out in force during the afternoon to provide essentials such as sunscreen and water, and hand out free hand clappers* to help you cheer on the Baton Bearers loud and proud!The Queen's Baton Relay Opens (QBR) carries a message from Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II that calls the Commonwealth athletes to come together in peaceful and friendly competition.Several community champions from within the City of Swan have the honour of carrying the Baton on their home turf! Come and support our wonderful baton bearers as the Relay makes its way towards the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games!Key viewing areas include Midland Town Hall, Woodbridge Riverside Park, Governor Stirling SHS, Guildford Grammar School, Terrace Road and the final destination, Stirling Square. There will be plenty of free activities along the way to help create a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience for spectators.
Some of the highlights include a mini fair at Woodbridge Riverside Park, special student performances at Governor Stirling SHS, live music at Guildford Grammar School, a final promenade at Terrace Road and a huge celebratory event in Stirling Square (from 4pm), which will feature a jam-packed program of onstage family entertainment, including performances by Australia's Got Talent's Jonny Taylor, Games Boy '18, the Combined Schools Choir, Zap Circus and Mickey J!There will also be free rides and amusements, Swan Valley cooking demos, fitness demonstrations, a special edition of the Stirling Square Markets, food trucks and heaps more!
Look forward to the grand entrance of the Queen's Baton as it makes its last appearance in Perth at approximately 5.27pm. The celebrations will come to a close with a spectacular fireworks display at 8.30pm. Click here to download the official map with key viewing areas, activations and event times.
There are several train stations close to the route, including the Guildford Train station, which is located a short walk from Stirling Square.Free event parking is available within the Guildford Grammar grounds and a free shuttle will be on hand to move you between key locations. Please see the map for the parking area location.Please note, due to road closures, regular street parking will be limited.
